What’s New with Me, You Ask?

This is a draft post from November 18th, 2014 at 10:06 a.m.

Actually, nobody asked. 🙂 But I’ve got lots to share, so here goes!

We have been battered by the Santa Ana winds for the past three days. Oh, how I hate the wind!

This was taken on the way to my Dads on Sunday.

And by the way, my dad fell again. His big feet and curbs just can’t seem to agree with each other. That’s why I was out in the wind heading to his place. He’s okay! Big hugs and thank you’s to the wonderful people who jumped into action and helped him up. He has a very small bruise on his forehead and his left arm is slightly swollen and bruised, but it doesn’t hurt when he moves it. He’s a tough old egg and stubborn as a mule. (Which means he refused to go to the hospital. 🙂 )

Which brings me to this;

I went out this morning to see what kinds of damage the wind might have done, none thankfully. 🙂 And had to take a picture of the puddle. (We had a day of rain before the wind. ) So use your imagination and tell me, what do you see?

Okay, last, well, maybe not last, last, but…

The holidays are fast approaching! Thanksgiving is butWhat? A week and a half away?

I am tossing tradition out the window this year. Bye, bye, turkey! Can’t you just imagine the turkey flying away with a big grin on his face? So what’s on the menu? Mini chicken tacos, homemade chili, and all the fixin’s for nachos! Sour cream, olives, cheddar cheese, chopped lettuce and tomatoes, salsa, corn chips, and jalapenos! My boys have never been big fans of turkey. Besides, who says you have to have turkey on Thanksgiving anyway? Haven’t decided on dessert yet, but I do have a pumpkin sitting here, begging to be turned into a pie!

So what’s on your menu? Any big plans?

And even though I hate to rush itDid you know there are only 37 days left until Christmas? 36 if you are in Australia. Are you ready? Have you been shopping? Will you do Black Friday? Eek! So many questions and so many things to do! I made fudge last week, but it’s all goneAnd I have been putting together some decorations. I’m a crafter at heart. I need to put the directions on my crafter’s blog

Life got hectic when Thanksgiving day came that year and this blog post didn’t get posted. I was in the kitchen cooking when my stepmom’s caregiver called. She took my dad to the hospital because he wasn’t feeling well. They admitted him with congestive heart failure. Dad fell a lot, but getting sick? Nope, not him. I had my middle son come in and fry the tortillas while I got on the phone with the hospital and back and forth with the caregiver to coordinate Jinny’s care. They put him on meds and kept him for two days. Dad was 90 that year. He lived to be 92 and passed away November 22nd. 2016. I miss him. And when I read blog posts that I have written about him, it makes me strive to work on my memoir,

“Dad Called Today”
