Wednesday Wonders Welcomes the Sexy and Hot Writer Eden Baylee!

Hi Eden and welcome back to Karen’s Different Corners. We had such a wild and fun time promoting Spring Into Summer here a couple of months ago, that I thought this time we’d sit down and have just an intimate one to one interview.

Many people don’t like the name they were given at birth. Do you like your given name? If not, what would you rather have been named?

I like the name I was given at birth. It’s a classic. I also like the name I chose to write under.

Is there a routine you go through before you begin writing?

I check email before anything else. I’m a stickler for responding to all emails before the end of the business day, and my business day is extremely long.

Is there anyone you admire?

Yes, many people. The thing I admire most is intelligence. I don’t care what your lot is in life – you can be a millionaire, politician, or a janitor. If you have conviction of your beliefs and are able to express sound reasoning, then you’ve earned my admiration. I may not necessarily agree with you, but that’s what makes the world go round.

What do you like to read?

The list is endless — biographies, thrillers, literary fiction, newspapers, menus, road signs, and more.

Do you have a favorite author?

Charles Bukowski.

Does it have to be quiet when you write or do you like background noise? TV, music, etc.

I need complete silence. Ambient noise is fine.

Beach or mountains?

Both.

Beach, because I love the heat and the ocean. Mountains, because I trekked through Nepal over twenty years ago and fell in love there.

What inspires you?

Men, women, friendship, love, food, sex, music, politics—life in general.

Favorite snack food?

Probably something salty like potato chips, though I rarely snack.

Doesn’t matter who we are, man, woman, child, all of us get freaked out by something. Spiders, mice, snakes, bugs, geese, etc. What freaks you out?

Ha! Who the heck is scared of geese? I wracked my brain on this one, and honestly, I couldn’t think of anything. I grew up playing with insects and bugs and animals don’t scare me.

Karen: Ha! Me! A gaggle of geese surrounding me scares the heck out of me! LOL

Most of the time, people and the stupid things they do freak me out more than anything. You only need to turn on reality TV any day of the week to see what I mean.

What is the most unusual job you’ve ever had?

I sold duct-cleaning services over the phone. You can imagine the jokes.

I read on another blog, that a writer was working on 10 novels at once. Confusing! Do you work on one or multiple novels at a time?

I’ve read that about James Patterson, though he has an army of ghostwriters
to help him. Like you Karen, I’d be confused too. It’d almost be like each book
was interchangeable with plot/characters/setting.

I work on multiple projects, but only one book at a time.

What do you like to do when you are not writing?

I love spending time with people I care about. Food is usually involved, maybe wine and scotch too.

And last question…Do you have anything new coming out that you’d like to share with us?

I have several things on the go, but promotion for Spring into Summer has kept me busy and will continue to do so for a while longer.

My next novel will be a full-length one, not an anthology of short stories. It will be a challenge. The goal is to release it next year.
