Wow! It’s Wednesday’s Wonders with Angela Orlowski-Peart

Hi Angela! Love the picture. It says it was taken at a tulip festival. So where’s the tulips? 🙂

I find it so fascinating that when I interview an author or writer, I find we don’t follow each other on twitter or are we friends on facebook! So just to let you know Angela, I now follow you on twitter and have sent you a friend request on facebook! LOL! But… I also find that once I interview them I feel as if we have been friends for a long time. So, Angela, I want to thank you for being here with us today and letting us get to know you.

Okay on to the questions!

 Do you write under your given name or a pseudonym?

I strongly believe in building the author’s platform and using the real name for it. I also use the same photo on all social media sites, which allows my readers to easily spot me.

Is there a routine you go through before you begin writing?
No. I write whenever and wherever my Muse decides to grace me with her presence (chuckles).

Is there anyone you admire?
A lot of people. Probably too many to list here. I definitely admire my dad. He has taught me to work hard and believe in myself. Because of him, there is nothing that I can’t achieve if I put my heart into it.

What do you like to read?
I read a variety of genres, but I don’t have much interest in erotica or horror. I like paranormal for YA and adults, steampunk, historical romance, and thrillers. I am addicted to mythology and always look for books with at least a small doze of it. The first book in my series, Forged, is filled with mythology. It was so much fun to do the research and construct the plot in the manner that the mythology is ever-present but doesn’t overwhelm the story that, in fact, is set in reality.

Do you have a favorite author?
Actually, I have a long list of favorite authors. Some of them are: Ernest Hemingway, J.R.R. Tolkien, Charles Dickens, Mark Twain, Edgar Allan Poe, Kurt Vonnegut, Truman Capote, Elizabeth Gilbert, Neil Gaiman, J.K. Rowling, Shel Silverstein, Stephen King, Charlaine Harris, and Phillippa Gregory.

Does it have to be quiet when you write or do you like background noise? TV, music, etc.
It really doesn’t matter. Sometimes I write in an absolute silence, but often I listen to the music. I also love to write in coffee houses, with lively conversations buzzing around.

Beach or mountains?
That’s a tough question. I am naturally drawn to water, especially a sea or an ocean. But I also love to ski, so if I had a choice, I would live by a large body of water and spend two weeks skiing during winter.

What inspires you?
Everything! I basically keep my eyes and ears open all the time. Music, fashion, nature, art, and people in general always provide a lot of inspiration for my writing and also for my watercolor painting.

 Favorite snack food?
Organic baby carrots with goat cheese.

Doesn’t matter who we are, man, woman, child, all of us get freaked out by something. Spiders, mice, snakes, bugs, geese, etc. What freaks you out?
A thought that something terrible can happen to my children, my parents, or my sister.

 What is the most unusual job you’ve ever had?
My very first job after moving to the U.S. was to paint my friend’s mother’s house. She insisted that I take the job, even after I told her I don’t have any experience in painting walls. But it all turned out really great. The ceilings provided some challenge, but I managed quite well after all.

 I read on another blog, that a writer was working on 10 novels at once. Confusing! Do you work on one or multiple novels at a time?
Ten would be excessive for me. But a successful writer normally works on more than one piece at any given time. It could be the full size novels, short stories, novellas or magazine articles combined, but in order to publish, at the very least, two items a year, it is a must for a writer not to limit himself/herself to just one piece.

 What do you like to do when you are not writing?
Walk in the nature, watercolor paint, explore either a city or a countryside and take photos, and plot plot plot for the next novel.

And last question…Do you have anything new coming out that you’d like to share with us?
Yes. I am working on the second book in the Forged series and on a novella introducing my new sci-fi series. And a brand new idea popped into my head today while visiting my local library. It might turn into a full size novel or, at least, a short story.
